This is a topic that causes some buyers to hesitate. Not knowing which line of personal defense is best for them. I will examine the best selling ones and offer my comments on each.
Pepper Spray: It most definitely will stop an attacker, however there are some conditions to consider. One of these conditions is the prevailing wind. You don’t want the spray blowing back in your face. There are gels available that are less affected by the wind and I would recommend these. This type of defense can be very effective in stopping someone. Of course you should practice removing it from the holster or your purse and arming the device, as this does take a few seconds.
Stun Guns: My favorite on the list of devices available. Just the sound of these things going off will scare an attacker.The latest ones have a very high voltage rating, over 1 million, very effective. I personally like the telescoping stun batons as they deliver their volts while keeping you a short distance from the attacker. They also feature rechargeable battery’s and lifetime warranty’s. 
Tasers: these are the most expensive of the personal protection devices. If you can afford one of these, they are excellent for self defense. You can maintain a15 foot distance from your attacker and drop them like a rock. They will never know what hit them, while you make your escape to safety. There is a small activation fee with a background check before they will operate, but these are far superb to the other devices. 
They are available in several color choices with holsters.
While there are other variations of the products I have discussed here, these are the main three. There are also other items that rely on sounds, such as sirens or whistles. We will examine them and other items for around the home protection on our next blog
